Sea-cliff retreat in the eastern Mediterranean

OlgaS_results_fullGround-based LiDAR, luminesncence dating, underwater surveys and airborne LiDAR are combined to study the process, rates and sediment budget associated with sea-cliff erosion along Israel's Mediterranean coast since the mid-Holocene. This project is co-led with Oded Katz from the Geological Survey of Israel.

LiDAR constraints on sediment loss from the cliff-shore system during the recent decade indicate comparable cliff retreat rates to the 'background' rate of 0.03-0.09 m/yr of retreat measured for this sea cliff since the mid Holocene. (Mushkin et al. AGU fall meeting 2015)
