2023 Workshop: August 17 – August 26

This is a workshop for participants from the School of Geography and Ocean Sciences at Nanjing University, Nanjing, China and the Chiba University Graduate School of Horticulture, Faculty of Horticulture in Chiba, Japan, hosted by the Precision Forestry Cooperative (PFC), in the School of Forest and Environmental Sciences at the University of Washington, Seattle. The Nanjing delegation will include visiting students from Nanjing University, Nanjing Normal University, Beijing Normal University. The participants will arrive on August 17, 2023 in Seattle and will spend 10 days traveling and learning about the geology and the ecological and human impacts of climate change on the Pacific Northwest (PNW) region. Participants will fly back home on August 26, 2023.

The participants selected for this workshop will travel over 800 km (general route is shown on the map below) through the PNW and explore the region through the lens of climate change implications on the ecology and human impacts on the state. They will  learn about the geology of this region to better understand the context of these impacts.  A more specific Google Earth KMZ link will be posted here.
