Time-Pass

This is a page for nothing in particular but time-pass. I’m a Texan by birth but grew up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, a few miles from two marvels of the world – the Corn Palace and Wall Drug.

I have few hobbies, but one is martial arts. I started training in Shotokan Karate in 1991 in Minneapolis with Sensei Laura Ocampo, Sensei Dave Gimberline, and Master Robert Fusaro. I earned a blackbelt in 1993 testing under Master Hidetaka Nishiyama. Since then I have trained in BostonNew YorkAustin, France, Ireland, India, and Seattle. I also recently became interested in training in Brazilian Jiujitsu. I have learned from Andrew Perkins and Shawn Weisenburgh at Mat Chess. And also from Filipe Matos at Gracie Barra in Northeast Seattle. All along the way, I’ve kept practicing yoga, which I’m convinced is the origin of all Asian martial arts.  I’ll try to prove it some day.
