Dr. Ravanpay is an Associate Professor of Neurological Surgery at the University of Washington, and works at the Seattle VA Medical Center. He practices general neurosurgery covering brain tumors, spine disorders and peripheral neuropathies.
Dr. Ravanpay earned his Bachelor’s degree from University of California, Berkley (Dual major in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Near Eastern Studies). He completed the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) at University of Washington, earning dual M.D. and Ph.D. degrees. He completed his neurological surgery internship and residency at University of Washington.

Robert Bonow, MD

Dr. Bonow is an Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery at the University of Washington, and works at Harborview Medical Center. He practices general neurosurgery covering Neurocritical Care and Neurotrauma.
Dr. Bonow grew up in Chicago before attending college at Cornell University and medical school at Tufts University. Prior to entering neurosurgery training, he conducted basic science research into neuroinflammation at the NIH. He joined the University of Washington as a resident in Neurological Surgery in 2012, graduating in 2019. During his training, he developed an interest in neurotrauma and neurocritical care, and was a recipient of the Codman Neurotrauma research fellowship in 2016. From 2019-2020, he completed a clinical fellowship in Neurotrauma and Neurocritical Care at Harborview Medical Center. His academic interests include traumatic brain injury, blunt cerebrovascular injury, and healthcare services research.

Anubhav G. Amin, MD

Anubhav Amin, MD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Washington. He is a neurosurgeon specializing in spine surgery with a focus on spinal oncology. He works closely with colleagues from the departments of Oncology and Radiation Oncology to provide a multidisciplinary approach to spine tumor patients.
Dr. Amin received his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where he completed a dedicated research fellowship focusing on the molecular mechanisms of recovery in chronic spinal cord injury with functional electrical stimulation therapy at the International Center for Spinal Cord Injury at the Kennedy Krieger Institute. He then completed neurosurgery residency at New York Medical College at Westchester Medical Center, where his research focused on spinal cord injury treatment with stem cell therapy and naturally occurring anti-inflammatory compounds. Dr. Amin completed a neurological oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, focusing on spinal oncology.

Hannah E. Goldstein, MD

Dr. Goldstein is an Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery at the University of Washington, and works at Seattle Children’s Hospital. She practices general neurosurgery covering Pediatric Neurosurgery.
Dr. Hannah Goldstein is an attending pediatric neurosurgeon at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Born and raised in New York City, Dr. Goldstein received her BS in neuroscience from Brown University, and then went on to complete her medical school training at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, during which time she was the recipient of a Doris Duke research fellowship. Dr. Goldstein completed her seven-year neurological surgery residency at Columbia University, prior to moving to Seattle, where she completed her pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at Seattle Children’s Hospital.

Timothy D. Steege, MD

Dr. Steege is a Clinical Professor of Neurological Surgery and Neuro-Hospitalist at the University of Washington, and works at Harborview Medical Center. His clinical interests include: Pediatric neurosurgery, adult degenerative spine disease, radiosurgery.
Dr. Steege grew up in Palo Alto, CA graduating from Stanford University School of Medicine in 1979. Upon graduation from the Neurological Surgery Residency Program at the University of Washington in 1986, he performed military service in Germany for 2 years followed by a fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery at the University of Utah. After a year at the former Group Health Cooperative, Dr. Steege moved to Swedish Medical Center where he practiced pediatric and adult neurosurgery for 31 years. He joined the faculty at UW in August, 2020.

Diana B. Wiseman, MD, MBA

Dr. Wiseman is a Clinical Professor of Neurological Surgery and Neuro-Hospitalist at the University of Washington, and works at Harborview Medical Center. Her clinical interests include: Degenerative spinal conditions; trauma.
Dr. Wiseman is a board-certified neurological surgeon who has specialized in spinal surgery. She comes to the University of Washington after finishing her career as a Naval neurological surgeon where the majority of her time was spent stationed overseas

Jonathan D. Carlson, M.D.

Dr. Carlson is a neurosurgeon in Spokane, Washington and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Deaconess Hospital and Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children’s Hospital. He received his medical degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine and has been in practice between 11-20 years. After 13 years as administrative faculty support in UW Orthopaedics, Julie joined the UW Neurological Surgery education program team in September 2018. As well as being the administrative coordinator for clerkships, Julie is also one of the coordinators for the department’s fellowships, annual Neurological Surgery Summer Student Program (NSSSP) as well as the coordinator for the department’s weekly educational Grand Rounds.
