We are graduate students from the Institute for Public Health Genetics at University of Washington in Seattle. Our program prides itself on its interdisciplinary nature, with faculty expertise in biostatistics, epidemiology, genome sciences, law, pathology, bioethics, public policy, and more. As a result, our research and training interests cover a wide spectrum of topics including genetic epidemiology, precision medicine, pharmacogenomics, and the financial, ethical, legal, and social implications of genetics.
Genomics is a rapidly advancing field, and its relevance to public health will only grow. As students, we are on the frontiers of the field, learning about the latest developments in the use of genomics for improving population health. Like all public health measures, the public health impact of genomic discovery grows when the knowledge is widely disseminated. This blog gives us the opportunity to share our insights into the field with all of you.
