Students Take Field Trip to U.S. District Courthouse

The students of Dr. Hampson’s TLAW 150 Introduction to the American Legal System class recently took a field trip to the U.S. District Courthouse in Tacoma. The students participated in a mock trial in one of the courtrooms and were introduced to some of the basic processes and functions of federal courts. Students also met with the Honorable Robert J. Bryan, a federal judge for the Western District of Washington, and staff attorney Rachel Dolven. Judge Bryan served on the state bench in Kitsap County Superior Court before his appointment by President Reagan to the federal bench in 1986. He shared his path to the federal bench with students, and answered their questions.
