Brooke A. Cassell


Brooke is a PhD student at Portland State University whose interests include wildfire, fuel treatments, post-fire restoration and managing for carbon sequestration.

MS in Forest Resources from University of Washington 2012
BA in Sound Recording from Columbia College, Chicago 2003
Master’s Thesis (defended June 2012): “Fire History of the Sierra de Manantlán Biosphere Reserve in Western México”  –   A dendropyrochronological study that contributed a tree-ring width chronology, established the use of Pinus douglasiana as a viable species for tree-ring studies, and reconstructed fire history in the reserve from 1938 – 2009.
