Get Involved
We’re always looking for people who would like to get involved with our research program!
We are currently recruiting both Veterans and non-Veterans for several clinical trials; please see the Current Projects page for more details.
Physicians who are interested in participating in this work may be eligible to do so via the MIRECC fellowship program, a two-year VA-funded research fellowship with 75% protected research time. Physicians from all disciplines are welcome, with psychiatrists, neurologists, and individuals trained in sleep medicine particularly likely to be a good fit at this time. Fellows typically participate in ongoing studies and in preparing for independent projects during their first year, and begin increasingly independent research projects during their second year and, at times, during a competitive third year renewal. If you are interested in this program, please contact me for additional information.
We are also actively recruiting undergraduate students who are interested in learning home polysomnography techniques. This position does not require any specific prerequisites, but does require an expected two year commitment, at at least 6 hours per week. This position would be a good match for students who are interested in learning sophisticated and varied techniques for measuring activity within the central nervous system and relating what is measured to human behavior, emotions and cognitions. We are happy to work with you to approve course credit for time worked, and to apply for sources of funding such as the Mary Gates Research Scholarship.
Although we are not currently actively recruiting for other positions, we are always open to hearing from people interested in collaborating with or working with the research group in other capacities, including medical students, psychiatry residents, or post-docs. If you might be interested in working with us, please send me an email with a brief description of your interest(s), your current position, and a CV or resume.
