Welcome to the University of Washington iSchool’s student chapter of the American Library Association (sALA)! We are undergraduates and graduate students and we come from the University of Washington’s Informatics, Master of Library and Information Science, and PhD programs.
sALA connects you with the American Library Association (ALA) and the library world beyond the iSchool. Our goal is to increase awareness of national issues in library and information science and the dynamic resources offered by ALA, including its publications, promotional materials, scholarships, and conferences. You can find scholarship opportunities here as well as on our Twitter feed and Facebook group.
sALA organizes a variety of programs and activities throughout the year to encourage networking, highlight trends and issues in the library profession, promote advocacy, and assist students in course and conference planning. Events include:

- Brown bag lunches with librarians
- Happy hours
- Conference reports
- Participation in library legislative day
- Guest speakers
