Welcome to UW’s student chapter of the American Library Association! Join other iSchool students to exchange ideas, information about trends, issues and opportunities in the world of libraries!
Once you have joined an organization, you might be wondering how to make the most of your membership. See if there is a local student chapter on campus!
Student Chapters of Organizations at UW:
The Student Chapter for the American Library Association is focused on helping navigate ALA resources, from Professional Development to questions on specialized chapters.
The Student Chapter for the American Society for Information Science and Technology is focused on resources geared toward information architecture and user-centered design.
The Student Chapter for the Society of American Archivists is focused on interests in archives and preservation.
The Student Chapter for the Association for Rural and Small Libraries is focused on resources geared toward small and rural library services and frequently underrepresented populations.
The Student Chapter for the Special Libraries Association, which is an international association, focused on information professionals and librarians in business, government, non-profits, and more.
These are the student chapters of larger organizations. Be sure to also check out the student groups that have particular focuses, such as iWorld, ArLISNAP, iQueeries, and more.
If a group is not as active as you would like it to be, get involved and help be the change you want to see!
