We study the relationship between humans and birds to discover how best to conserve wildlife in our modern, human dominated world. No part of this relationship is too small, too large, or too unconventional for our team. Accordingly, we can be found relating landscape change to bird occurrence and demography, investigating the coupled relationship between birds and the people who feed them, or imaging the brain of a crow as it views its captor. We study common birds and those on the brink of extinction. We focus on lands from the city center to the remote wilderness. Partnering with colleagues in urban planning, medicine, and natural resource agencies we strive to make our research relevant to policy makers, managers, and citizens.
