UW Seattle 2025 Nonprofit & Government Career Fair October 29 – Registration required!

UW Seattle 2025 Nonprofit & Government Career Fair
Please join us on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, from 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. for the 2025 Nonprofit & Government Career Fair, hosted at Mary Gates Hall in the Commons. This fair is open to all majors and years of study, including alumni, of all three UW campuses and community members. You can expect to see employers representing Nonprofit and Government industries on Fair Day.
Never attended an in-person career fair before?
A career fair is a connection opportunity for employers who have open roles and students who are currently in the job search phase. At an in-person career fair, events are hosted on campus in a large meeting space, wherein employers set up booths for students and alumni to visit. In-person career fairs are a great way for students to meet face-to-face with representatives of companies that appeal to students’ majors, interests, and goals.
Need a resume? Employers will want to look at your resume, either at the fair or shortly after. To get started, check out our resume resources.
Not sure how to prepare? The fair is open to all students and majors. Employers represent all types of industries, as well as all types of job and internship opportunities. Check out the fair experience and find more career fair resources.
For more information about this Fair, and a link to registration, please go to the UW Career Center Web Site.

HEARO Community College Mentorship Program Is Now Accepting Applications For Mentors!

Hello!

I hope you are doing well! I am the Director of Mentorship at HEARO (Health Educators and Advocates Reaching Out), and we are currently recruiting mentors for our 2025-2026 cycle. We are an organization committed to bridging the resource gap between the community and technical colleges and universities in Washington State.

Our program is a mentorship program where community college students from various disciplines are paired with career professionals, graduate students, and undergraduates nearing graduation (within 1-2 years of receiving their undergraduate degree). Mentors assist mentees with their professional development, developing their academic path, and getting a viewpoint on the fields they are interested in.

Mentors will be tasked with meeting one on one with their mentee, providing advice and empathy, assisting in resource finding (HEARO has a robust resource bank and makes this task easy), and communicating with their mentee throughout the remainder of the academic year.

There are countless benefits we offer to HEARO mentors including letters of recommendation, networking opportunities, advanced mentorship and leadership training, and a state-wide community of amazing people. There is also the personal satisfaction that comes with assisting others!

If students are interested in becoming a mentor, the application info is found here. Please forward this to your graduate, undergraduate students, and employees alike! We welcome all applications (STEM, humanities, performance, communications, etc). You can also view our website at the link below!

We ask that mentors have their applications in by November 20th, 2024 but we welcome applications after that date, on a rolling basis. However, we encourage mentors to apply by the above date to maximize their time with their mentees.

If students have questions, please direct them to me or to hearo.infoapp@gmail.com.

Best,

Kyra Shelton

Director of Mentorship @ HEARO

Forestry volunteer work/training day trips on a tree farm

Hello everyone!

We have some volunteer work/training day trips available over summer break in beautiful Skagit County in a picturesque nut orchard. https://www.instagram.com/lazy_squirrel_nut_farm/

We’ll be measuring rare chestnut and walnut trees, and you’ll get the chance to learn various important tree measurement techniques such as tree coring. The work will be fun and the site is very flat and easy to navigate, feeling very much like a park. This is a great chance to learn how to plant trees if you haven’t had the opportunity to before, volunteers will earn a letter of recommendation as well!

There is also the possibility of a weekend camping trip (with some meals provided) if there is enough interest, where we will set up camp near the water in Skagit County and spend some time exploring this beautiful area.

If you are interested, please do the below things as soon as possible:

1. Fill out the When2meet survey below with your full name, only if you are available that whole day, or can provide your own solo transportation for a partial day – the orchard is about a 1 hour drive from UW. https://www.when2meet.com/?31005318-1w9za
To minimize confusion, please only fill yourself out if you are *very* sure you will attend if we do an event that day – if your schedule changes, please update your availability on the When2Meet accordingly.

2. Email Ben Johnston, and CC Robert Swan, to 1) confirm that you are interested, 2) say whether you’d be interested in camping, and 3) let us know if you have a car you are willing to drive either on your own or with others carpooling. Drivers will be reimbursed for gas for as long as we have funding remaining in our small grant for this project. Send your email to: BenWJ@uw.edu AND cc SwanR820@gmail.com.

Everyone is welcome, undergraduate, graduate, faculty, non-esrm students, etc, so please spread the word and feel free to invite people. Please have them fill out the when2meet and connect with Ben ASAP. All attendees will receive letters of recommendation.

Also, below is a flyer with the aforementioned links that you may freely send out to others that are interested.

Reach out to us over email if you have questions!

Thanks everyone, and have a lovely start to your summers!

– Robert Swan and Ben Johnston
