Grace Buckman – Summer and Fall 2024, Winter 2025
In 2024, the nursery was awarded a Campus Sustainability Fund (CSF) grant. Part of the grant was to install solar panels, which would be a significant step towards both sustainability and productivity at the nursery. The project began with a partnership in Autumn 2024 with UW Solar, a student-led organization with experience establishing solar panels on other UW campus buildings. Grace’s key steps for this quarter included gathering the necessary permissions for solar panels in the nursery grounds, site shade analysis, and research on purchasing panels.
