Thalictrum occidentale (THOC), or Western Meadow-Rue, is a species that the SER-UW Native Plant Nursery had not yet germinated. This experiment tested the effectiveness of using gibberellic acid, a germination-promoting plant hormone, on thalictrum occidentale seeds to break physiological dormancy. Germination was found to improve significantly with the use of gibberellic acid, and the experiment also resulted in the addition of many young thalictrum occidentale to the nursery’s inventory.
