Khalil Center is a psychological and spiritual community wellness center advancing the professional practice of psychology rooted in Islamic principles. It is an initiative designed to address the widespread prevalence of social, psychological, familial, relational and spiritual issues of Muslim communities. Khalil Center provides mental health services, such as Psychological, Psychiatric, & Counseling Services. They also provide community education where they host community Workshops, Seminars, Classes, & Events​. They also have the school of Islamic psychology and research where they have professional Education, Clinical Training, & Research. Khalil Center utilizes faith-based approaches rooted in Islamic theological concepts while integrating the science of psychology towards addressing psychological, spiritual and communal health.

The family and youth institute  

Their research priorities at The Family and Youth Institute aim to strengthen American Muslim youth and their families through four key areas which are positive youth development, healthy marriages, effective parenting and mental health and well-being. The area of mental health and well-being includes culturally competent psychological interventions for Muslims, Mental health issues and treatment promotions, Muslim historical contributions to Psychological Theories and Treatment, use of social media platform in mental health promotion, substance abuse, a structural model of Racial Discrimination, Acculturative Stress, and Cultural Resources Among Arab American Adolescents, and Mental health for immigrants and refugees.

Institute for Muslim mental health 

The Institute for Muslim Mental Health is committed to optimizing the Muslim community’s emotional health and well-being by mobilizing a network of mental health professionals to ensure all American Muslims have access to high-quality resources. They train and mobilize mental health professionals as well as generate scholarly research and knowledge to better serve the community. They have webinars and help create networks. The research or they call it “journal” explores social, cultural, medical, theological, historical, and psychological factors affecting the mental health of Muslims in the United States and globally. The journal publishes research and clinical material, including research articles, reviews, and reflections on clinical practice.

Yaqeen Institute  

Yaqeen, actively participates in the current day discourse touching on all topics that are related to establishing conviction in the hearts and minds of young Muslims. They have research conducted in a lot of areas. One of the research sections they have is Psychology & Mental Health. They have papers, videos, and infographics pertaining to that area. They cover a lot of topics under the umbrella of psychology and mental health such as general psychology & trauma, politics and practical theology (epistemology, Islamic ethics, social justice, identity, contemporary ideology & islamophobia), family & community (parenting, culture, marriage, education), Islamic history (life of the prophet/seerah, spread of Islam, Islamic Civilization, Islam in the west). A few other topics that were covered are faith (Allah(swt), Angels, Quran, Hadith, Prophets, Divine Decree), Nature & Science (evolution, environment, technology and health), and sharia (methodology, jurisprudence and acts of worship).

Stones to Bridges  

At Stones to Bridges, they believe that everyone should have a place to unwind and address what’s on their mind. They believe that it’s time to take those stones and build their bridge. They have an anonymous form where people can ask “Fatima” questions and they have a team of Professional Muslim Counselors, both male and female, that give their thoughts and insight. People can ask “Fatima” about anything on their mind – school, family, love, sadness, abuse and anything else! They have a section titled “Articles by Fatima” which discusses coping with depression and anxiety and states a few facts about depression and what causes anxiety. They also talk about the types of abuse and what signs to look for and how to identify unhealthy and abusive relationships. They have different articles about other subjects such as wearing Hijab for the wrong reason, biggest Muslim sinner, heartbreak/Relationship/Struggles in marriage…etc.

 Muslim Wellness Foundation (Non-Profit) 

The Muslim wellness foundation works on reducing stigma associated with mental illness, addiction and trauma in the American Muslim community through dialogue, education and training. Their projects and initiatives focus on 3 major areas; Community Engagement & Outreach, Training & Consultation and Professional Development & Networking. They also focus on Black Muslim psychology and Immigration.

Naseeha 

Naseeha is a mental health hotline where they answer calls 24/7 from around the world whether Muslims or non-Muslim. They provide naseeha and provide a safe zone for youths and individuals to talk and get the help they need. They provide workshops to youth across North America, web therapy sessions, and offer texting mental health support 5 days a week. They deal with issues such as the following, Mental Health, Drugs & Alcohol, Religion, Family Relationships, Bullying, Domestic Issues, Pornography, and Marriage & Divorce.

Amala, The Muslim Youth Hope line  

Amala (“Hope” in Arabic) is a hotline that creates an accessible form of culturally competent counseling and resource referral for the Muslim youth.  It is a free warm line (Helpline) that provides peer support  regarding issues such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and substance abuse. They have blogs that discuss topics such as “Tools to overcome self-doubt”, “Challenges to being a multi-ethnic Muslim”, and “Marijuana usage amongst the youth”.
