Grading

1. Oral Presentation: Select a current research article from a reputable journal on the topic of symbiosis. Get approval of the selected paper from Prof. Doty. Prepare a PowerPoint presentation with background (based on review articles), results, and discussion. Send the paper to the class at least 2 days prior to aid in class discussion.  Suggested Topics: corals, lichens, mammalian gut microbes, insect-microbe, insect-plant, plant-microbe, microbe-microbe, fish-microbe, or animal-animal symbiosis
2. Written Paper:  Summarize in 2 pages the over-arching themes in symbiosis, using the presented papers as the examples
