Tateuchi Research Methods Workshop Series
In Autumn 2019, the Tateuchi East Asia Library commenced a three-year program of four complimentary workshop series targeting graduate students and other researchers, collectively titled the Tateuchi Research Methods Workshop Series. Digital Scholarship for East Asian Studies introduces digital resources and methodologies relevant to scholars across East Asian studies fields. Separate series for Chinese/Taiwanese, Japanese, and Korean studies explore resources and approaches specific to those particular areas.
Workshops are led by TEAL librarians or invited experts, often from within the UW Libraries system. Always interactive, session formats include instructional presentations, roundtable discussions, and researcher presentations. In each, students can encounter new resources and methods, and share and exchange feedback on their research approaches and experiences. By promoting border-crossing and interconnected research, the workshops help build communities among graduate students from various departments and disciplines whose research touches on China, Japan, Korea, and/or Taiwan. Students are encouraged to follow up on workshop themes in consultations with librarians.
