Image of Adrian RafteryPlease join us in Seattle to celebrate the distinguished career of Adrian Raftery at a Conference on Friday, August 9, 2024 at the University of Washington. The day-long event will feature scientific presentations by Adrian’s former students, collaborators, and colleagues, followed by plenty of time to socialize at a dinner reception.

Adrian Raftery, the Blumstein-Jordan Professor of Statistics and Sociology at the University of Washington, is a distinguished scholar known for his groundbreaking work in statistical methodology. Born in Dublin, Ireland, he has made significant contributions to fields ranging from environmental science to public health. His mentorship has also shaped the careers of numerous Ph.D. students, many of whom now hold esteemed faculty positions at universities worldwide. Adrian is the founder of the renowned Center for Statistics and the Social Sciences at UW, which celebrated its 25th anniversary this year. As he retires from teaching, we are gathering to commemorate all of his successes and wish him well in his next endeavors. 


Adrian will also host an informal BBQ on Saturday, August 10th at 5:00pm at his home near campus. All conference participants and their families are welcome to attend.
