Happy Friday Huskies!

The low pressure system drenching British Columbia and bringing showers to the northern Cascades and Olympic Pensinsula is moving eastward out of the region today. This means weekend temperatures will warm to the low 70s, which is average for this time of year. Cool morning temperatures in the low to mid 50s remain. Yesterday’s windy gusts will be replaced with calmer breeze topping out in the 6-8 mph range.

While today should feature high clouds and sun breaks, mostly sunny skies will return on Saturday for the 4th and continue to clear on Sunday. If you dislike cloud cover, you may want to take advantage of the clearer skies this weekend as another low pressure system is moving south and bringing more cool wet weather on Monday. In true 2020 fashion, the refrain “The start of summer in Seattle is July 5th” has been updated to “The start of summer in Seattle has been postponed”.

Over in eastern Washington, weekend high temperatures will run about five to ten degrees warmer than highs on the west side. Blustery winds around 25 mph are possible near the Columbia River Gorge and Ellensburg area. Despite the recent cool and wet weather, drought conditions still remain for central Washington, so please be responsible with fireworks and bonfires as you enjoy your weekend!
