Happy July 4th Huskies!

Pleasant weather has arrived for the weekend. While marine layer clouds cover the coast, sunbreaks are popping up around the Puget Sound and much of eastern Washington can see blue sky. Most inland clouds should clear this afternoon and even the sun will make a guest appearance above most of the state.

Expect temperatures in the low 70s in the Seattle area. If you go for a walk along the Puget Sound or a kayak on Lake Washington, temperatures will be cooler than in the city. Highs in the upper 60s and low 70s are likely in the Bellingham and Olympia regions. Today could be a great day to stay home and avoid the crowds on the coast as chilly temperatures in the low 60s are forecasted for much of the Olympic Peninsula and Ocean Shores area. Onshore flow will help keep those coastal temperatures cool and breezy.

Morning temperatures were cool in the Cascades this morning, but most areas in the mountains should warm to the mid to high 60s this afternoon. On the “Big Sky” side of the state some high clouds are present, but warm temperatures are in the forecast. Temperatures in the Tri Cities have already reached the high 70s and are expected to crest in the upper 80s this afternoon. Slightly cooler temperatures in the low 80s are likely for Yakima and Wenatchee. There is a chance for showers in the far northeastern corner of the state, but Spokane and the Palouse should feature dry weather in the upper 70s.

If you are celebrating July 4th enjoy your day and PLEASE remember to be responsible with fireworks and bonfires. Have a great and safe weekend!
