Happy Saturday Huskies!

We are starting to feel the winter weather here in the Pacific Northwest, although we are still in Fall season and pumpkin spice everywhere, we are starting to see the beginnings of a winter wonderland. So definitely, time to prepare with that hot cocoa, fuzzy warm socks and if your more of a champurrado and tamales season person, then it’s about time to heat up the stove for some warm beverages to keep ourselves warm, because we are heading into a very cold season!

Yesterday, we saw the first glimpse of snow up in Eastern Washington and in the mountains. The Winter Storm Watch in the cascades had snow levels of 2000ft and 1-11”. Cold pressure is coming from the North through the Fraser Valley into Western Washington, due to the high pressure in British Columbia.

Today, Spokane woke up with approximately 7 inches of snow! This has broken their historical record and by far it has been their whitest and busiest snow day in their 135th year! While the San Juan Islands, is experiencing gusty winds of a maximum of 50 mph with an average of 25 to 35 mph. It is expected to remain breezy and chilly there throughout the weekend.

In Seattle, we can also feel the coldness and breezy winds, with highs in the upper 40s and some expectation for some sun breaks throughout midday today, but  mostly cloudy skies, but not for long as the temperature will drop into the 30s tonight. This will continue into Sunday with highs in the upper 40s and lows in the mid 30s and expected to start off with a frosty Sunday morning, causing some cold and icy roads not just in Seattle, but throughout some regions in western Washington. A Storm Warning and Freeze Watch has been issued in the Puget Sound region, so definitely be on the cautious mode as we navigate through the beginning of this Winter weather like in just the Fall season.

Have a great weekend everybody and remember to be very cautious of the icy roads and don’t forget your jackets!
