Hey Huskies! Hope your finals are going well as a sunny reward looms by the second half of this week. Here’s what to expect for the rest of your week:

As shown on our radar, we are still experiencing some leftover showers from the series of systems that came through the past several days, bringing heavy rainfall and damaging winds. This late season atmospheric river event triggered both wind and flood advisories across the Sound, which have expired as of this morning. While minimal flooding was observed, gusty conditions led to downed trees and power lines over the past 36 hours. Although unusual for this time of year, this rain is especially beneficial to make up for our rain deficit this year.

Most of these leftover showers will be relatively light in nature, but a few pockets of heavier showers may stick around this afternoon. Overall, these showers will continue to dissipate into the evening with the exception of a light convergence zone north of Everett, which will persist into tonight.

While the most powerful winds have wrapped up as of this afternoon, gusts of up to 30-40 mph are still possible around the Sound. Similarly, these winds will also begin to die down as we head towards this evening.

A few sunbreaks are possible later today as the rain and clouds begin to clear. Despite some wet pavement, this will make for good pet walking weather, including for Rowdy and Sadie, who are our featured Dawgs of the week! Thank you Eddie for sending these into the Dawgcast.

Looking later in the week, we are looking at an extended forecast of above-normal temperatures and abundant sunshine. A ridge slowly but surely builds in from the south and will persist into this weekend. Unlike the past several weeks which have featured plenty of cooler weather and overcast skies, this will be a significant pattern change for much of the Pacific Northwest region.

Wednesday is expected to be dry with increasing sunshine throughout the day. Temperatures will climb into the upper 70s by Saturday, which is expected to be the warmest day this week. A weak disturbance moves across the area later in the day on Saturday, bringing some clouds with it and cooling us down to the low 70s to finish off finals week. Lovely weather just in time for our graduating seniors as well!

Enjoy the sun Huskies!
