PNW Wind Storm: Round Two Incoming

Good Afternoon Huskies,
This morning is a welcome relief to the wind and rain on campus as another storm enters the region, bringing more wind and rain. This wind will not be as strong as what we experienced on Tuesday night, but trees may be more susceptible following the earlier event even though the wind is not as strong.
Wind advisories have been initiated from 10 pm tonight to 10 am Friday morning, with the most significant wind gusts occurring during typical commuting hours (around 6-9am) in the eastern Puget Sound lowlands. This could hinder ongoing power grid repair efforts, so be prepared for more hours without power in some regions. If possible, limit outdoor activities tonight into tomorrow morning, secure loose objects, and prepare for further power outages across the region.
Wind will not be our only adversary this Friday but also our PNW friend…rain. There will be two bursts, one Friday morning and another distributed throughout the weekend. By Friday night, the UW campus is expecting about ½ and 3/4 of an inch of rain with the addition of excess showers this weekend.
Looking forward we expect a wet weekend with many post-frontal showers expected. Convective activity along the coast may induce some tornadic activity, with waterspouts like the one on Wednesday developing.
Moving into next week, some sun may yet return as UW goes on holiday before Finals Season arrives. We hope you stay safe over the next couple of days and know there is some sunny fall weather yet to come.
Stay dry Huskies!
