Eclipse and Monday Showers 🌘 ☂️

Greetings Huskies! It’s another Monday and that means another forecast from yours truly at DawgCast.

Earlier this morning we saw a bit of darkness across the US from the total solar eclipse. Although we didn’t get to see much of it from Washington, we had two DawgCasters on ground-zero to record some media for y’all. The next total eclipse will be all the way in 2045, so lets hope that Washingtonians will get a shot at seeing the dark sky!

 

Starting off this week, the cascades are still trying to meet their snow quota. Falling behind with pretty meager levels of snow during the Winter, they are still catching up currently as we enter the Spring. There is an accumulation of snow resulting in a Winter Weather Advisory that is in effect until Tuesday at midnight. Snow levels are expected to surpass 3500 feet. As usual, reconsider travel plans if expecting to visit areas like Snoqualmie Pass and Stevens Pass.  Along with the Winter Weather Advisory there is also a Small Craft advisory that cautions windy conditions of up to 33 knots that are hazardous to smaller vessels navigating greater than or equal to 10 feet of seas.

Next let’s look more locally, here’s the rainfall accumulation totals for Western Washington through Tuesday morning. Around the Sound we won’t see very much accumulation, with the higher end being Olympia with around 0.35 inches of accumulation. Moving up into the mountains, we see a slight increase, but not too much. The Everett area likely will see the least accumulation with around 0.10 inches. After Tuesday, the midweek conditions will look a little bit different as we expect some continuing clouds, but less chance of rain.

Just remember Huskies that April showers bring May flowers, and we certainly will be seeing our fair share of showers in the next couple of days.
