Trick or treat Huskies!

Whether you’re out trick or treating or dressing up in your best Beetlejuice attire, UW is embracing the Halloween spirit this year! It seems the weather missed the memo (or not), and a dark and dreary night is set to befall us later tonight.

As we have a post frontal. open convection environment sitting over Seattle, damp weather and cooler temperatures are setting into the night. As we transition into November, we can expect even more days like this since it is typically our wettest month of the year. It will start to seem like weather on repeat with us staying cloudy until the eventual coveted November sun breaks.

Speaking of November, Friday will be wet and a little breezy as a low develops and dumps about an inch of rain across the area, with a higher amount across the Olympic peninsula. Temperatures will top out at around 52 degrees during the day and cloud cover overnight will keep us relatively warm in the upper 40s. Winds will gust to about 15 mph throughout the day, with higher gusts upwards of 30mph possible during the later afternoon. Most of the heavy rain should be out of the area by 5 p.m. on Friday, but convergence zones will spawn lingering showers.

The cascades of Whatcom, Skagit, and Pierce are under winter weather advisories as this system as this system will take advantage of cool air aloft to bring us some much-needed alpine snow to prepare our snowpacks for the winter. A bountiful ski/snowboard season may be ahead! Additionally, the USC Vs. UW home game is looking rather calm, but potentially wet so if you’re planning on going, bring a coat!

That’s all for now Huskies. Have a terror-ific night and enjoy celebrating the day of ghosts and ghouls. 🎃
