Happy Wednesday, Huskies!
It is a wet and gloomy start to the day as heavy showers continue to move through our area. Winds will continue to produce gusty conditions throughout the afternoon and into the evening, especially near the sound and along the coast. Our high today will be around 54 degrees, which is near average for this time of year.
Looking ahead to the end of the week, showers will continue to hit the region into Thursday before we get a brief rain break to wrap up the school week on Friday. After Friday, this is your best chance to see the sun.
Unfortunately, this weekend we will return to the sogginess as another system will bring in rain and mountain snow Saturday afternoon and into the day on Sunday. Snow levels will begin to drop to around 2000 feet Friday night and Saturday as the cold air arrives. This will cause snowy conditions along the passes, like Snoqualmie Pass, which is at 3000 feet. This can cause tricky travel conditions if you are heading to eastern Washington. The northern Cascades are under a Winter Storm Warning with 1-2 ft expected, according to the NWS. With the rain this weekend, cooler temperatures will develop across our region as temperatures will struggle to hit 50 degrees, with highs only in the mid-to upper 40s.
Stay warm and dry, Huskies!
