UW BioE design projects allow students to apply engineering design to address unmet needs in health care and biotechnology. Industry and clinical partners are welcome to contribute ideas for projects and/or mentor students.
Team Design:
Device and/or hardware-focused projects carried out by senior undergraduate and Master of Applied Bioengineering students. Projects last 2-3 quarters, and are advised by UW faculty, industry, and/or clinicians.
Individual Research + Design:
Year-long projects conducted in BioE faculty labs by senior undergraduates. These longer projects allow time for sophisticated wet lab-based experiments and strong faculty involvement.
Example Project Topics:
- Clinical Design Solutions
- Point-of-Care Diagnostics and Monitoring
- Rehabilitative Medicine
- Drug and Vaccine Delivery
- In Vitro Disease Modeling
- Tissue Engineering
- Cancer Detection, Modeling and Treatment
- Imaging Systems
