UW International Security Colloquium

Dr. Richard B. Wesley

Born and raised in Texas, Dr. Richard (Dick) Wesley attended Rice University and went on to Johns Hopkins Medical School. He did his residency in internal medicine at the University of Colorado and completed a public pulmonary fellowship at the University of Washington Medical Center.

Dr. Wesley remained in the Pacific Northwest and spent 28 years practicing pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine in Bremerton, Washington. He had a lifelong interest in art and classical music, and enjoyed hiking and camping in the mountains as well as maintaining a vegetable garden and orchard.

After retiring in 2006, Dick returned to Seattle and attended the Access program at the University of Washington studying political science, economics, and communications. He became a beloved figure in the Department of Political Science and UWISC during this time, where he collaborated with and mentored many of our graduate students. Dick passed away in November 2014.
