What are your identities?
I identify as Black, African (father was from Ghana), and American. I am a wife and bonus mom, a patient and a physician, a sister and a soror, a daughter and a friend
Who are your people?
My family, friends, coworkers, patients/families – they keep me laughing, inspired, and sane.
What are you most proud of?
I’m proud of fulfilling my parents’ dream for their children to pursue higher education. My father came to America with only a middle school education. My mother integrated her high school in rural Mississippi. Both graduated from college. I’m proud of fulfilling my dream that developed when I was a Pediatric patient – being a physician to patients who are looking for faces that mirror their own.
Why UW Pediatrics/Seattle Children’s?
The people are amazing – committed, kind, fun, talented, etc.! The opportunities are extensive. The support I received as a resident and have now as a faculty member is unparalleled.
What’s next?
Cultivating my own interests and passions
