Anika Larson, MD

Alaska Track sites: Bethel/LaTouche Pediatrics
Medical School: University of Washington School of Medicine

What are your interests in medicine?

Environmental health, rural health care, perinatal medicine, integrative medicine, mental health care… too many!

What drew you to the Alaska Track?

I loved my rotations in Alaska as a medical student and wanted to be back as soon as possible! I also hoped that the Alaska Track would connect me with a community that would push me to offer the best possible care to my patients in Bethel and Anchorage from a perspective that serves the patient’s health in the context of their life. I love that I learn from my patients every day, never feel alone in addressing their needs, and have mentors who are very present to support us both.

What would be your perfect day off?

I would get to dance, walk in the woods, swim in a lake, and have a really good laugh with family and friends. Lake swimming is seasonal, but I do the rest of it in Alaska year-round.

What was your childhood dream job?

Marine biologist, and I am still fascinated by whales!
