WHAT ARE YOUR IDENTITIES?
Artist, aunt, child of refugees, female, first-generation Chinese (Teochew)-Cambodian American, wanderer, sister
WHO ARE YOUR PEOPLE?
My parents, my siblings, my nephew, my friends who have made my life so full and the hard moments in life
easier to endure.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?
Carving my own path and living true to myself and my values. Having the privilege to honor my late maternal
grandmother’s dream of having one of her many grandchildren become a physician after the Khmer Rouge cut
her children’s education and lives short.
WHY UW/SCH?
The breadth of training, from caring for very medically complex patients at Seattle Children’s to working at
Harborview (the only level 1 trauma and burn center in the region) to practicing rural general pediatrics during
the WWAMI rotation, I wanted to go to a place where I felt like I would be prepared for anything and be able to
build any kind of career. And even though the interview was virtual, I could feel how warm and supportive the
community was and I just had a gut feeling. Now that I am here, I can say it has definitely lived up to that
feeling and more.
ON MY DAYS OFF, I LIKE TO…
Go out to paint with friends, explore Seattle’s food scene, run around Greenlake, try my hands at anything
creative.
ASK ME ABOUT…
being first generation, food recs, or anything really
