Why UW Pediatrics/Seattle Children’s? Coming from a med school that didn’t have a stand-alone children’s hospital, it was important to me to be at a place where I would get lots of exposure to high acuity patients, bread + butter diseases as well as more rare conditions. The culture at Seattle Children’s is truly unmatched – my co-residents are so kind, genuine, and supportive and everyone at the hospital is dedicated to providing the best care to our smallest of patients.

Why UW Pediatrics/Seattle Children’s? It was the program that took a chance on me without knowing me (I hadn’t done any rotation here or knew anyone here). Apart from being a great program, it aligned with my core values. Everyone at my interview made me feel welcome and appreciated. I had the opportunity to interview with a faculty member I really admire; she shared a little of her passions and projects, and it just clicked and aligned with mine. I knew I wanted to train in a place where she was working.

Why UW Pediatrics/Seattle Children’s? I had the opportunity to complete an away rotation at Seattle Children’s in Rheumatology during my MS4 year. I fell in love with the people, the program, and the city!

I grew up in San Francisco and moved to the east coast for college at Colby College in Maine. Following college, I did a few years of research in Boston before going to medical school, again moving back to Maine. In my free time, I love spending time with family and friends, watching tv with my cat by my side, hiking, or exploring the city!

I was born and raised in the Bay Area in California. I completed my undergrad degree (bio major with religious studies minor) at Gonzaga University in Spokane WA, where I did ecological climate change research, studied abroad in Ecuador, played rugby, and fell in love with the state of Washington. Medical school took me to St. Louis, Missouri, where I met my partner (who is not in medicine), adopted two cats, and realized my calling in Pediatrics. I’m thrilled to now be in Seattle for residency!

I love reading, baking, taking long walks on the Burke Gilman, listening to Spotify 24/7, and debriefing pop culture situations with my friends in coffeeshops/restaurants. I have a lovely orange cat named Lyra and I am obsessed with her.

I am the daughter of Turkish immigrants, sister to a real scientist, and mother of a doodle named Remy. My friends would describe me as silly, sarcastic, and loving. I am happiest when I am outside by the water, with a beverage in one hand and my camera in the other. At work, I am usually bumping music in the team room or using silliness as a way to get through a stressful day. Outside of the hospital I am either taking photos, cooking for friends, or spending time with my fiancé Travis and dog Remy.
