Hats Off To Our Student Library Employee Graduates!

Summers end is an exciting time for our library student employees. But it’s also a bittersweet time for all library staff, as we say our final farewells to our graduated students who have contributed so much to the make up of our library’s daily operation and success.

Even though they graduated this past June, students who work for the UW Libraries are eligible to work the entire summer quarter after graduation, leading right up to the day before the new fall quarter begins. This offers them an opportunity to focus their efforts and attention towards their next career, or academic move.

During this time, students work on special projects, refine resumes, visit UW Tacoma Career Development, gather letters of recommendation, support, and advice from library staff, librarians, and professors. It also doesn’t hurt to earn a few extra dollars to help out along the way! But on the day Fall quarter begins, Wednesday, September 25, 2019,  library student employment for those who graduated in June must end.

This summer, and even up to today, we reluctantly said good-bye to 5 of our graduated and dedicated student employees in our Access Services department.  Thank you James, Hawo, Stephanie, Voun, and Kim and to at least that many more amazing students who worked in our Reference, IT, and Digital Scholarship departments. Many of you have seen them assisting library users on the front lines of our Snoqualmie and Tioga Circulation, Reference, and IT desks, or you’ve partnered with them on special projects and events through out their academic years.  They deserve a bow for their amazing service to the library and the UWT community. Library graduates, may you have continued success as UW alumni, and as library alumni. We will never forget you.  You are unique and irreplaceable.

If you are currently a UW student interested in any future library student employment opportunities, and would like to join our team, please be sure to visit, UW Libraries Student Employment,
for any upcoming positions.

Hats off and a final bow to our library graduates!  Remember, if you want the moon, go for it!
