Congratulations! Distinguished Librarian Award goes to Justin Wadland!

Image of man in glasses. Text: Congratulations Justin Wadland! Distinguished Librarian Award Winner!We are thrilled to share with you all that our own Interim Director and Associate Dean, University Libraries — Justin Wadland — has won the 2020 Distinguished Librarian Award!

Justin has worked as a librarian at UW Tacoma since 2003, and currently serves as the Interim Director, UW Tacoma Library and Associate Dean, University Libraries. He worked extensively in digital scholarship and helped establish UW Tacoma Digital Commons, the campus institutional repository. Justin is author of the book Trying Home: The Rise and Fall of an Anarchist Utopia on Puget Sound and has contributed to HistoryLink.org several articles connected to UW Tacoma campus history. With his collaborators Charles Williams and Joan Hua, he is currently working on an oral history on the founding and development of the UW Tacoma campus that will be completed this summer for the 30th anniversary of campus. Justin is the first UW Tacoma librarian to win the UW Distinguished Librarian Award.

Distinguished Librarian Award Committee: Appointed by the Vice Provost for Digital Initiatives and Dean of University Libraries. It is composed of librarians from the three UW campuses, a representative designated by the chair of the Faculty Council on University Libraries, and a representative from the Information School.
