Jon, the Velian group’s first graduate student, is starting as Assistant Professor at Cornell University this Fall. He uncovered key insights into catalyst metal-support interactions and inter-active site dynamics using a family of M/Co/Se clusters with multiple active sites. During his PhD at the University of Washington in our group, Jon received many recognitions for his accomplishments, including the Clean Energy Institute Fellowship, the American Chemical Society DIC Young Investigator Award, and the University of Washington Department of Chemistry Dalton Best Thesis Award in Inorganic Chemistry.
