Trevor Odell

Trevor was born in Evanston, IL and grew up in the sleepy LA suburb of  Thousand Oaks, CA.  He graduated from University of California, Santa Barbara with a BA in Chemistry and Minor in History of Art and Architecture.  After undergrad, Trevor worked for three years at Biotium in Fremont, CA performing fluorescent dye synthesis, antibody bioconjugation and making various tools for life science research.  Feeling like he wanted to learn more about the application of the tools he was creating, Trevor decided to enroll in the Analytical Chemistry PhD program at UW and join the Vaughan and Chiu labs in the Fall of 2024.  He is currently focusing on optimizing bioconjugation with fluorescent beads for flow cytometry and hopes to gain practical experience with fluorescent microscopy techniques.

Outside of science, Trevor enjoys cooking, baking, eating, and hosting.  A former college triathlete and ocean lifeguard, he keeps up with running, swimming, biking, and surfing when the weather allows.  You’ll also find him searching for new vinyl or CDs to add to his collection, playing the odd RPG, working his next craft project, watching sumo, or going to live shows.
