Progesterone & Immunity Study

The purpose of this study is to understand how and why progesterone, a sex hormone, affects the immune system in the whole body.

The study consists of 3 visits over the course of approximately 1-2 months. In general, visit procedures include blood draws, nasal and vaginal swab collection, and vaginal, rectal, and healthy skin biopsies. You will also be asked to conduct daily ovulation tests for a period of about 2 weeks.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Assigned female at birth
  • Pre-menopausal with regular menstrual cycles

Conditions which would prevent a volunteer from participating in this study:

  • Pregnancy or planning to become pregnant during the study
  • Recent use of hormonal contraception or any IUD

Compensation:

Participants who complete all study visits and procedures will be compensated up to $1,500 for the study.

Clinic Location:

Our clinic is located on the 11th floor of the Ninth and Jefferson Building at Harborview Medical Center and open Monday through Friday.
