Congratulations to the Multidisciplinary Team on Being Awarded a UW Bothell SRCP Grant

The interdisciplinary and cross-campus team, PI: Jong Yoon (Mechanical Engineering, UWB) and Co-Is: Jody Early (Nursing and Health Studies, UWB), Nina Lapiana (Department of Neurological Surgery, UWS), Pierre D. Mourad (Mechanical Engineering, UWB; Professor of Neurological Surgery, UWS), and Erika Parsons (Computer systems Software, UWB), has been awarded a grant from the UW Bothell SRCP grant program entitled, Gizmo 2.0 – a cross-disciplinary robot for enhancing recovery after stroke-induced hemispatial neglect” totaling $28,593.

We seek to build upon our existing research to achieve the following objective:

Refinement of our existing small (and engaging) gamified robot, currently for upper motor stroke rehabilitation, sufficiently to show the promise that it may, one day, (a) accelerate and (b) enhance rehabilitation of patients with HSN due to ischemic stroke. Successful funding by a major sponsor based upon the preliminary data we generate here will demonstrate our success.

The UW Bothell SRCP Seed Grant Program is intended to competitively support UW Bothell faculty in all disciplines who are starting new projects or relaunching current projects in new directions that have the potential for internal UW and/or external funding.
