Virtual Library Services: A social justice lens

Video chat with Amita Lonial, 1-2 pm Pacific Time on Wednesday, April 8. Sign up for this brainstorming/unconference session.

Communities of color, low-income families and others in vulnerable situations bear the brunt of the Covid-19 pandemic and economic crisis. As we look for ways to serve our communities online, how do we work toward equitable practices? We’ll be chatting with Amita Lonial, Assistant Director at Tacoma Public Library. You may know her as a Library Journal Mover & Shaker who serves on the PLA board.

This is a unconference-style session — an informal meeting driven by participants. We will work in small groups to think through questions related to serving marginalized communities remotely. Please come prepared with a topic to discuss. A detailed agenda will be shared before the meeting.

The session is part of a series of video chats aiming to support the work of librarians during the crisis.
