University of Washington Financial Reporting Conference

The Financial Reporting Conference brings together accounting standard setters, SEC officials, corporate financial executives, professional accountants and academics to discuss current issues in financial accounting and corporate reporting. An open-format panel discussion allows participants to interact with the speakers and panelists. Representatives from the FASB and the SEC will discuss current and emerging issues in financial reporting regulations. Corporate executives and professional accountants will participate in panel discussions on selected topics.

In the morning, Christine Botosan, board member of the FASB, will provide a FASB update, and we will also be joined by  Sarah Esquivel, Associate Chief Accountant of the SEC to discuss current issues at the Securities Exchange Commission. In the afternoon, we will moderate two panel discussions. The first panel, titled “Climate Reporting: Regulations, Governance and Strategy”will discuss climate reporting regulations in various jurisdictions that impact US firms, firm compliance, governance, and business strategy. The second panel is titled “Innovative Insights: Unveiling AI’s Influence on Accounting Practices” and will delve into the implementation strategies, governance frameworks, and transfomative impacts of AI on modern accounting practices.

 

The Michael G. Foster School of Business will co-host the nineteenth Annual Financial Reporting Conference with the Milgard School of Business/UW-Tacoma on Friday, May 17, 2024, at the Bell Harbor International Conference Center in downtown Seattle.
