- What is Relay for Life? Relay for Life is an event put on by the nonprofit American Cancer Society in order to fundraise the mission to fight cancer. These funds go towards research, information, support, and prevention.
- But why is it called “Relay” for Life? The event can last from 3-24 hours. For the duration of that time, the goal is to have someone from your team on the track at all times so that someone is always taking steps towards hope and a cure.
- So how do I sign up? Go to our campus event on the American Cancer Society website! Don’t attend UW? You are still welcome! You have to register for the event with a donation to the cause.
- Can I join the RSO? Of course! The more the merrier. Although we are officially known as the American Cancer Society on Campus, most people know us as UW Relay for Life. As a part of the RSO you can either volunteer your time to help us with fundraising and awareness events OR be a part of the committee to make the Relay For Life Event come to life!
- Why do you Relay? Probably the most common question for everyone involved in Relay and every answer is different. A lot of us are connected through the same experiences of watching a loved one fight their heart out or caring for a friend who is experiencing that on their day to day. Either way, we all relay for a cure. And because of this cause and community that come together annually to fundraise time and time again, we can one day say that there is one.
