Daily Schedule

OR days start early! Arrive in time in the morning to help set up the room and see the patient in the pre-op area.

• Introduce yourself as a “student doctor” part of the anesthesia team.
• After the case is finished, escort the patient to the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU).
• Check on them 30-60 mins later to see if they have any common anesthetic complications (nausea, sore throat) and adequacy of pain control.
• Repeat set-up, pre-op and PACU transfer/assessment for the following case(s).

Depending on case length, you may have 1-5 (or more!) cases in a day.
