Policy Impact

In addition to peer-reviewed manuscripts, the ASPIRe Lab aims to impact health policy through dissemination to policymakers, advocacy groups, and patient and clinical partners. Below are recent successes in media and policy dissemination.

JAMA Health Forum interviewed APSIRe Lab co-director Rachel Prusynski about a recent publication on utilization and outcomes in Home Health for Medicare Advantage beneficiaries in their editor’s summary podcast.

Policy Impacts

The ASPIRe Lab collaborated with the UW Center for Health Workforce Studies and the WA Workforce Training & Education Coordinating Board to produce the 2023 Long Term Care Workforce Legislative Report, as part of a collaboration funded by the Washington State budget through 2025.

ASPIRe Lab work on therapy staffing in Skilled Nursing Facilities was cited in the March 2022 Medicare Payment Policy Commission Report to the Congress on Medicare Payment Policy.

Tracy Mroz testified at the September 19, 2023 U.S. Senate Committee on Finance, Subcommittee on Healthcare hearing on “Aging in Place: The Vital Role of Home Health in Access to Care.”
