The UW Bothell/Cascadia College campus Grounds Team understands how critical our pollinators are to all life on earth, and actively works to support their populations on campus. We have multiple pollinator-specific plantings scattered throughout campus, which have been intentionally designed to facilitate habitat creation, longevity and foraging. Our organic land care practices ensure that no chemicals harm the pollinators, and we are mindful of how mowing affects pollinator habitats.

Since 2021, UW Bothell and Cascadia College have been a certified Bee Campus. This includes commitments to reduce the use of pesticides, create and enhance pollinator habitat on campus, and engage in education and outreach activities with the campus community. As we have been a pesticide-free campus since 2006 and our grounds team is committed to enhancing pollinator habitat through native plantings, no-mow areas, and reducing pollinator gaps, our campus is extremely dedicated to advocating for pollinators.

Our Integrated Pest Management Plan ensures that the actions of our grounds team and contractors create the least amount of disturbance to pollinators as possible. We also maintain a native plant list and a native plan supplier list as a record of our campus commitment to increasing the abundance of native plants on campus.
