About CCUWBee

As of January 2023, the CCUWBee Research Initiative is currently on hold as we work to recruit new students and volunteers to run the initiative. The CCUWBee Committee is continuing to meet on a quarterly basis to advise the campus on how we can best support pollinators.

In spring of 2017 the CCUWBee Research Initiative was created, with focus on supporting pollinator populations across campus. In the past we have surveyed the pollinators weekly from early spring to late fall, gathering diversity and abundance data for the bees on campus. From Mason Bees, to Wool Carder, Bumble Bees to Honey Bees, we study them all!

The CCUWBee Research Initiative actively monitors and collects data pertaining to bee diversity and abundance here on the UW Bothell and Cascadia College campus. Our goal is to provide the campus community with detailed knowledge on local bee populations and how we can improve native bee habitats. We aim to inspire students and faculty with a citizen science approach to research and innovative thinking to ensure the best future for the pollinators who call our campus their home.

All UW Bothell and Cascadia students, faculty and staff are invited to participate in the monitoring efforts. We welcome volunteers, as well as independent study students (upon approval). The goal of this project is to better understand how the shared Cascadia/UW Bothell campus can support our native pollinator species.
