Free Legal Consultations for UW-Seattle Students

UW Student Legal Services (SLS) is an on-campus law office located in HUB 306 that offers FREE 40-minute consultations on a multitude of legal matters. Our office recently hired an immigration attorney to serve UW-Seattle students. We provide a safe and confidential space for all UW-Seattle students (undergraduate, graduate, and professional) who have legal questions or concerns.

Students seek assistance from SLS for issues such as:

  • Landlord/Tenant
  • Discrimination
  • Immigration
  • Protection Orders
  • Name and gender markers
  • Estate planning (wills, powers of attorney, healthcare directives)
  • Criminal and traffic
  • Auto collisions and insurance
  • Many other issues

Our office educates students about their rights and responsibilities, provides legal advice and resources, negotiates disputes, represents them in court, and prepares them for small claims matters. In addition, we offer general informational sessions and “how-to” presentations on a variety of legal matters, such as knowledge of rights. Registered Student Organizations, departments, and other UW entities may request a presentation via email.
