CEE Undergraduate Weekly (2.8.19) “Snowpocalypse 2019 Edition”
Hello –
As we head into this potentially snowy weekend, I wanted to remind you about some important SPR19 registration housekeeping items.
As always, please read through this entire email so you can minimize issues you might have on your registration day:
- SPR19 Time Schedule is now live!
- Use this opportunity to identify any scheduling conflicts in advance.
- Remember to check the course time schedule notes (located under each individual course or at the top of each department’s time schedule page).
- Cross-check your planned course prerequisites against your degree audit. This will ensure the registration system recognizes that you have satisfied the prerequisites and will allow you to register. If you see any discrepancies, please email ceadvice@uw.edu.
- SPR19 Planning Resources: CEE SPR19 Time Schedule | 2018-19 Academic Calendar (Registration Dates) | CEE Add Code Request Form
- 2018-19 CEE Projected Course Offerings: There have been some significant updates to the projected courses for both Winter and Spring so please make sure to double check your courses and their scheduled times.
- Additional Writing Requirement: We have been receiving a number of questions from students about satisfying the 4cr of additional writing. There are a number of ways to satisfy this requirement all of which are outlined in the link.
- If you need registration assistance with a CEE course, submit the online CEE Add Code Request Form.
- If you need registration assistance with a non-CEE course, you will need to contact the department and/or the instructor directly.
- Continue taking program prerequisite courses as outlined in the sample 4-year plan on the BSENVE and BSCE degree sheets.
- You should try to complete the Physics and Chemistry courses in sequence by the end of your sophomore year, if possible, as the CEE Junior year is fully packed with required CEE 300-level courses. You may also start on 300-level CEE courses as appropriate, if you have completed prerequisite courses, but we strongly recommend that you do so after you have consulted with a CEE Advisor.
- CEE 3XX Track Classes: As in WIN19, you will be registering on your own for SPR19. Please make sure to stay within your track. If you intend to go off-track, make sure you have discussed your plan with us.
We are in the process of moving some things around so make sure to double check the time schedule course notes as we approach the Feb 15th period I registration.
- Structures Focus: If you are intending to focus in Structures, it is imperative that you take CEE 456 in spring quarter of your Junior year as indicated on the BSCE Senior Year Planning Sheet.
- Senior Year Planning: We will be hosting Faculty Mentoring Sessions in April.
This will be an opportunity for you to hear from faculty from each area of focus to help you plan your Senior year.
In the meantime, please make sure to look over the Senior Year Planning Sheets (BSENVE | BSCE) and the Upper Division Course Lists (BSENVE | BSCE) to get a jumpstart.
- INDE 250: INDE 250 conflicts with the CEE Capstones by 20 minutes in SPR19.
If you need to take INDE 250 in SPR19, please follow these steps:
- Register for INDE 250 on your registration date. (You will not be able to register for your Capstone due to the time conflict)
- Submit an add code request for your Capstone Course: http://tinyurl.com/ceeaddcoderequest
- Once you have received your add code, complete section 1 of the Registration Transaction Form and send it (regoff@uw.edu) or drop it off in person to the Office of the Registrar Help Window (Schmitz Hall Second Floor).
***I want to ensure you that you will be able to take whichever Capstone you prefer.
There is no need to worry that the Capstones will fill up.***
- CEE 420 & CEE 429: CEE 420 (Engineering with Developing Communities) & CEE 429 (Sustainable Infrastructure) will both have open enrollment on a first come, first served basis. If you are unable to register for this course on your registration day, please submit an add code request so we can gauge student interest.
- Here you will find postings about jobs, internships, research opportunities, scholarships, new courses, and much more, organized in easily accessible categories.
