Teaching

When I began my teaching career, I expected to be a popular and charismatic lecturer who would inspire students with my knowledge and erudition. Alas, I was a bit of a flop. I was over-prepared, nervous, and once, I even lost my train of thought in the middle of a sentence. With perseverance and helpful advice from senior colleagues, I learned to lighten up a bit, slow down, and to trust my instincts to illustrate significant points with stories. I hope that I eventually became an effective teacher who reached many students with my concern for their learning.
