UW COVID-19 Student Service Corps

Our primary goal is to create a centralized system for fielding projects and research from the health care system, and to organize student teams to respond to the project and research needs.

Service Projects
Mobile COVID Testing
Assisting frontline workers in the Seattle area to provide COVID-19 screening for vulnerable populations.
Telemedicine Support
Supporting health care providers at Harborview Medical Center in the implementation of high-tech telemedicine solutions for their patients.
Local Farming Project
Assisting with screening volunteer farmers partaking in food rescue operations to minimize risk of COVID-19 transmission on site.
Volunteer/ Research Projects
COVID Antibody & Plasmapheresis Testing
Working with UW Virology researchers to identify patients eligible for COVID-19 antibody testing.
COVID Transmission in Household Pets
Supporting the efforts for the Center for One Health Research to investigate this critical question.
COVID+ Emergency Medicine and ICU Patient Processes & Outcomes
Four studies of patients taken care of at UW Emergency Departments and UW ICU’s.
Hydroxychloroquine and Azithromycin in Hospitalized COVID-19 Patients
Assisting the research team in conducting two clinical trials investigating the potential role of these treatments in the inpatient setting.
Point of Care Diagnostic COVID-19 Testing
Assisting in a study to evaluate the feasibility and accuracy of novel point-of-care tests for COVID-19 infection in the Seattle area.
Fred Hutch COVID-19 Clinical Research Center
Clinical research interns collaborate with experienced medical and research faculty teams working towards effective treatment methods for COVID-19, with a focus on community outreach and enrollment efforts.
COVID-19 National Patient Registry
Contributing to the creation of a national registry in order to better understand the cardiovascular and cerebrovascular outcomes in hospitalized COVID-19 patients.
