COMPASSION IN SCIENCE

CHRIS BRAUNGER

Chris Braunger is the Communications Manager at the University of Washington’s Washington National Primate Research Center (WaNPRC). Though in his position he does not commonly work inside the vivaria or labs, he has spent his more than 10 years at the Center gaining experience and knowledge about the animals and people in this critically important field. Chris is profoundly empathetic to the emotional and physical well-being of his colleagues. He is a champion for Dare 2 Care’s mission to recognize the realities and complexities of compassion fatigue and the committee’s response in providing resources to those who care for the animals in the lab setting.

Chris earned his BA in Broadcasting at Gonzaga University where he also engaged in Italian Studies course work while studying and working in Florence, Italy. He enjoys spoiling his canine nieces Roxie and Lola, rooting on Zags basketball, golfing with his friends, attending live concerts and traveling whenever possible.
